Thor was careful to wipe his hand off when he saw Diana reaching for him, quick enough it didn't make much of a difference, then he took her hand in his as well and threaded their fingers together. Even in the early morning haze, he could appreciate the feel of her soft, smooth skin and the gentle tone of her voice. He had no such qualms about restricting her from anything, partly due to Asgardian culture not being that way and partly due to him knowing it wasn't right. More than that, Diana deserved every opportunity to explore all that life had to offer, to be the best version of herself she could be. She'd been living lonely, oppressed, and repressed for far too long. Thor didn't want to add to that.
"I will." He promised her, with no hesitation behind it. They were good for each other in so many ways. He had to remind himself that Diana was probably just a net benefit for the universe anyway, but specifically for him. Thinking back, he wondered if this was the sort of connection Banner and Natasha used to share, where just the sound of her voice could put the Hulk to sleep and bring Banner back to the forefront. If so, the effect had to be just as soothing for the beast as it was for the warrior.
Over Diana's shoulder, Thanos lingered in the light and Thor lowered his head back to his food, taking it in for a moment as though nothing else mattered. When he looked up again, there was a sparkle in Diana's eyes and Thanos died away, as he'd done at the end of the last battle. Dust in the wind, as he should have been.
