When he thought about it later, Ben realized he might have stepped over a line somewhere. Okay. He had definitely messed up. There were no maybe's about it. Poe had offered up what the hotel had given him to all of them and though Ben had been instantly grateful for it (and still was), he could see now how his questions had come off as unappreciative. It was a fantastic gift. He wouldn't deny that. Being able to know where they all were now at any given time? It wouldn't just help them cut down on the time it would take for them to all find each other if they got kicked out of the hotel again but also help him stress less about keeping them all together. Maybe it was childish to worry so much but he hadn't had this much to lose in a long time. The phones helped, yeah, but these trackers would work regardless of anywhere that they were. It was almost too good a gift. But so had been his mother's lightsaber and Ben would be forever thankful for it. Questioning their good fortune was likely bad luck anyhow. Wherever they had come from, Poe had been willing to share. And Ben hadn't been able to just say thank you. There was only one way to make up for it. Or, okay, there was only one way that Ben could think of that would be alright because he still didn't know Poe as well as Rey and Armitage but what he did know was that the man liked his breakfast and his coffee so Ben made sure to arrive with both. He'd contemplated only bringing coffee but that felt stingy. And he could have just made a batch of cinnamon rolls since he'd actually gotten real fucking great at those but putting in the extra effort to cook eggs and potatoes to go with it felt like the right way to go. And if Poe slammed the door in his face, he'd eat it all himself. With everything in hand (shit, he'd forgotten the silverware), Ben got himself at Poe and Rey's door just before nine. |
