Of course he had heard her enter, so he didn't jump or react at all when he heard her voice. He did however look up from his book and smile at her. She was certainly very beautiful and as she was a lady; clearly from her posture and grace some kind of noble or high class family. Being the ever Gentleman he stood up from his seat, closing his book as he did so. Then he offered her the seat. "Please sit" he said.
"Oh it's Shakespeare....his poetry and plays have always been some of my personal favorites" he added in his answer to her question. "I tend to get engrossed in the world when I read. It's almost as if I am there....I can see the scene playing out before me". Clearly he did love reading, but there was more to it than that for him. It was the story; being able to find solace in the words of someone else was always the best part about reading.
"I am sure they have another copy around here somewhere. Or I could read some to you, if you would like" he continued.
