Diana could not speak to whether worlds might be better off with or without her. In truth, she didn’t even know if her own world would be better off if she retired, ceased to meddle. Still, Diana knew that there would never come a day that that happened, and so it was truly a moot point. In any case, it seemed that she and Kal existed in the same world, and that was interesting. Diana might have been the more friendly of the two, but that the world had had both of them was something to be grateful for. Diana honestly couldn’t think of a threat that the two of them couldn’t dispense with. And of course, here in the hotel, there were others with similar or other unique powers. “Perhaps. It would likely be a lot nicer.”
She giggled as Kal announced it was the best news he’d had since he’d been here, and she followed his lithe and easy movements around the roller rink. Diana hadn’t skated in years, but as the humans said, it was just like riding a bike. Which she also hadn’t done in years. Whatever. Their motions around the rink continued, with Diana remembering that crossing her feet on the turns made them faster after a few minutes, but she openly stared at Kal as he brought up the idea that this place was looking for someone.
“Do you know, I think I felt the same. I had put it aside, but the night I arrived here, I resolved to make no secret of myself. ‘I am Diana of Themyscira, Daughter of Zeus, Amazon Princess and Wonder Woman.’” The tone she used here was not her normal introductory tone, but the graven solemnity she would’ve spoken a ritual on Themyscira with. Her face, however, did not match at all, which became clear as she began laughing, at herself and the concept. “I had thought at the time it would call forth an enemy, but whatever they are looking for, it is not us.”
