Re: Caleb & Theo
"I think so," Caleb shrugged. "I think it's just something he can do, speaking to animals. He's always had a way with pets and mounts and sometimes just wild animals we've met on the road." He talked to trees, too. And Jester spoke to grass that one time. But that might be a bit too weird to share. The conversation with the patch of crabgrass seemed like the sort of thing you had to be there to think was funny. But Caleb was a bit ashamed to say that he didn't know much about firbolgs. He should really try to fix that, all things considered.
It was time for Caleb to be lost, then. He didn't know what any of these holidays were, but he understood things being tied to faith. He also understood a certain kind of syncretism. It happened even in their world. Some places didn't honor the same gods - some gods were outlawed - and they had to mark the changing of the seasons somehow. So traditions that existed before or had been brought into a place, would simply because other things. "Oh, yes, the rabbits," he said. "I was here for that. And the one with the leprechauns. I have books as well, though, if you'd like to trade sometime - and learn about each others' holidays. Though they're in my library and I'm afraid I can't move books from there." He reached up and tapped his temple. "It's all in here. In a manner of speaking. But I can bring you to them sometime."
