“Isn’t a shared madness the entire premise of Folie à deux?” Will questioned in response, turning his attention from the nature around them to Hannibal and raising an eyebrow slightly. “Not to mention the fact that this would hardly be the first time I felt very confidently that someone else was there who wasn’t.”
After a moment, he gave a one shouldered shrug and found himself mirroring the small smile that played on Hannibal’s lips. Everything about this situation was absurd on a logical level, but he found that he didn’t really particularly mind. This very literal conversation didn’t feel particularly different from any of their purely philosophical discussions.
“Hell crossed my mind too. I would make the argument that my presence shouldn’t immediately remove that one from the list of possibilities.” He paused again for a moment, breathing in the fresh air and making a bit of an assessment of his own faculties. His senses seemed to be working just fine, and his mind and thought processes felt clear and unclouded. Still, he could never fully discount madness as a possibility. After another few moments of silence, he finally returned the greeting with one of his own. “Hello, Hannibal.”
