Thor’s hand had been closed when he’d used his knuckles to tilt her head up, and she’d let him. The hand that wasn’t on his knee, that had stayed in his lap this entire time, rose to wrap her slender fingers around his wrist, her fingertips settling on his pulse, against his inner wrist. She let his hand stay for a time, and then she moved it, bringing his knuckles to her mouth and pressing a kiss there, before she left their fingers entwined and settled her hand more or less in her lap again. More appropriately, now that Thor’s hand was linked with hers.
“That is a very sweet thing to say, and I will try to remember it,” she said softly, and she leaned into his side more fully again, her head on his shoulder. “But I would do well to remember that the humans need Amazons, and we need them, too. I think it is what caused my people to cease to grow, in a way. And that’s no good, either.” Her voice had gone sort of thoughtful and misty, but that faded quickly enough. “Hey. Did you eat yet? Don’t forget breakfast.”
Simple caring, masked as questions that asked after Thor’s wellbeing, and whether or not he was taking decent care of himself. She already knew he hadn’t slept, and when tired, things could be forgotten. Signals unheard, and so on.
