Diana could be very reckless. In fact, it could’ve been said that that recklessness was part of the reason she had announced herself so loudly to everyone here. She had made no attempt to hide who or what she was, even all the way back to the first night she’d arrived and bumped into Tony Stark in the safe haven he’d made. He had asked her who and what she was, and Diana had given the honest, but dumb, answer. And worse, she knew that. She had had no idea what she’d been walking into. She still didn’t, really.
And yet that hadn’t stopped her. She was as observant as the day was long, able to take in small details at a moment’s notice, because Zeus had left her with superhuman strength, speed, and intelligence. Diana made use of those things, but she was not making full use of them, or perhaps she might stop running headlong into danger. The only reason she hadn’t had to face consequences in that context yet was that no man had been strong enough to impose them on her.
“I am settling in as well as can be expected. Tony told me when I arrived that there are around a hundred people here, and I suppose I’ve been focusing on meeting them all. Offering help.” Diana sighed, and took a sip of her drink, but even this melancholy passed as quickly as it had arrived. “As if there’s any help to be had in a place like this.”
And it was not that Diana necessarily felt trapped. It was quite a lovely cage. Still, it was a cage, and Diana might have been inclined to put a little more effort into solving this mystery and getting the residents here sent home... if John Constantine hadn’t informed her that for some people here, this was home. There had been no names discussed or personal details given, so Diana did not know whom or necessarily what that meant, only that it had made her realize that despite “solving the mystery” being the right thing to do... it still wasn’t.
“He is very good at keeping things contained,” she said thoughtfully, and she meant John Constantine. He was, in fact, very useful in that context, both for his own skills with magic and because Diana had given him quite a few artifacts to chuck somewhere that the humans wouldn’t find them. Diana thought very highly of John Constantine, and of Thor, come to that. Both had spoken well of Natasha, and that meant much to Diana. “I think I will have to find some way to keep myself occupied outside of helping. But there is plenty to do here.”
She did not mean the roller rink and movie theater, in terms of things to do, but even just thus far, Diana had made friends with her neighbor, gone exploring a few times, spoken to Natasha about joining the patrol, and considered joining in with Thor’s training group. She’d been a busy bee, and perhaps it was just that Diana didn’t know how to relax. Not exactly a surprise. She had been taking another drink when Natasha brought up Thor, and her face warmed.
“I am. He is a strong and true companion, and very kind.”
