Theo watched in horror as his comment seemed to send Peter into some sort of panic attack. Since he knew all too well what that felt like, he couldn't help the wave of guilt that washed over it. "No! No clones. It's just...from what I've been able to put together from accounts here and there, it seems like this place exists outside time, therefore our time here also exists outside our time at home. For example, I come from 2000 but there are those here from my home that are from much later and by their account, I never went missing at all. So I've theorized that when I get sent back, I'll be sent back to the moment I left without ever realizing I was gone at all because we also lose our memories of being here except for some vague dreamlike memories. At least, that's what people who have left and come back have said, more or less." He didn't mention that he didn't know Longbottom or Weasley all that well, and if he had disappeared it was likely neither of them would have noticed, but that wouldn't help the situation right now at all. And his babbling probably wasn't helping with the whole panic thing.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to alarm you. These are only theories, I have no way of knowing for sure if any of it's true, or some of it or which parts of it." He bit his lip, feeling helpless in the face of someone else's panic. "Um...would you like some tea? Tea helps me when, well, tea helps. I can manage tea without exploding anything else." Senku had shown him how to make tea, so he was pretty confident in that. "I hate the idea of not remembering this place too, of what's happened here just disappearing if I'm sent home, but I guess I've decided that I have no control over that but I do have control over not letting the not having control control me and I'm making this worse, I think. I'll make tea." He was pretty sure he was still babbling, and that his last sentence had made no sense at all.
He was glad that Peter was able to keep up the conversation, even after the existential crisis Theo had caused, and listened as he put a kettle on to boil. There was a whole selection of tea in one of the cupboards, he'd seen it once, and he rifled around until he came up with a box of it. "Yeah, I'd imagine it would get pretty dangerous for all of you if the average person on the street knew about your powers." He imagined there were people out there who would want to study Peter to find out how it all worked, and then try to replicate it on other people. He didn't think that would end well for Peter at all.
"Oh, that's brilliant," Theo said, watching as the webbing shot out and hit a pan. He reached out and touched the web, and it felt just like spider-silk. "No, I don't imagine leaving behind a whole city's worth of this would have made you very popular."
The kettle went off, and he quickly made two cups, handed one to Peter. "Do you want milk or sugar?" He felt a bit silly since Peter seemed to be on the mend, but it also seemed a shame to let the cup of tea go to waste. "No, not entirely. Some people are magically stronger than others, but how that magic expresses itself is largely due to personal preference."
