"In a way, all we have is distance and time here," he said, then rolled his eyes at himself. "I am not a philosopher, as you can see." It had sounded better in his head. "I think that makes the most sense. Maybe that's where we've all been going wrong. Rather than focusing on what is different, we should look for the common threads and see if we can identify something that could explain, well." He gestured vaguely at the hotel walls. "This."
The closest comparison was about as good as it was going to get, so Theo just nodded. He was more interested in Peter's expanded explanation of the mutants of his world. "Infinite diversity in infinite combinations," he said, not sure where he'd read that somewhere but pretty sure it was almost correct.
"Well, I would be thrown in prison for having told you anything about magic if we were back in my world, but then I'm a criminal several dozen times over at this point," he said, returning the grin. "Radio-active is...something sciencey, right? But aside from that, it sounds, again, a bit like lycanthropy." He studied Peter again. "You can't pass along your abilities if you bite someone, can you?"
Theo couldn't help the laugh that escaped at Peter's dramatics over the doll. Though, having seen some of the items the hotel 'gifted' people with, perhaps Peter wasn't being all that dramatic. "I'm almost done. What do you think? Does the kitchen look usable again?" He took another look around, and he didn't see anything that looked out of place, but another set of eyes would be good.
