"It happens more than you think it would," Theo said, though stopped himself from going on at length about cauldron bottom thickness. He didn't think Peter would care overly much. "I don't have a proper cauldron here, but I managed to appropriate a cast-iron pot from the kitchen here that's worked well enough. At least, I've avoided melting it to this point."
Theo cleaned as he listened, finding that the work went easier when he had something else to focus on. "That seems to be in line with what I've learned from others as well. I'm not sure if they're from your world or not, but it does seem that in several worlds magic can be both learned and innate." It did make him wonder what was so different about his world that Muggles were incapable of learning magic. And, another part of his brain asked, were they incapable?
"The X-men? Who are they?" He hadn't heard anyone mention that term before that he could remember. "I've seen Strange around but haven't had a chance to talk to him much. I may have to make an effort to do that." The network would be useful for that, and he made a note to seek Strange out sooner than later. "And you? You said you don't do magic, but there are those here with abilities that fall outside the supernatural. Would you fall into that category?"
It was clear that whatever had shown up had disturbed Peter quite a bit. "If you like, I could make sure the thing isn't actually cursed or possessed." He paused a moment, scoured a particularly stubborn glob with an extra blast of water. "That way maybe your blood curlding screams won't disturb the rest of us."
