Who: Dean Winchester & Castiel
Where: Movie theater
When: Before the ghosts
What: Watching a movie
Status: Completed/Closed
Warnings: None
There weren’t too many places for them to have a date or anything formal like that. So, Dean had decided they would spend the evening watching the All Saints Day series. It had been a while since he’d last seen the movies and now seemed like as good a time as ever to introduce them to Castiel. Thankfully, he had the movies all on his phone and they could easily be played on the projector in the theater. If anyone came in while they were together, he would just have to kill them. The movie was already loaded on his phone and plugged into the projector. Dean had a large bucket of buttery popcorn, along with Twizzlers and Reese’s Pieces. He had brought a blanket in case it got too cold in the theater, even though it wouldn’t bother Cas. It wasn’t exactly the most romantic thing in the world, but after all they had been through, he really wanted to show Cas how he felt. Dean had even shaved his face completely, though he wasn’t even sure if Cas preferred it smooth. Why was he nervous? It was Cas. It didn’t matter if he was wearing a Gucci suit or dressed in flannel, and it didn’t matter if his hair was all over the place or neatly styled. Still, he wanted it to look like he made an effort and he found himself pacing the floor as he waited for the other to show up. Dean sounded a little… different when he had asked Castiel to meet him in the mini movie theater tonight. They were together almost all of the time, he’d watched movies with Dean before, seen him at his best and worst, and more recently at his better best that Cas still wasn’t sure it wasn't some wonderful, freckled hallucination he was having, but it wasn’t like any of that. A date. It was already well established that he could barely tell when someone asked him out on a date or to babysit while they went out, and as such he wasn’t going to sweat this at all. Except he was. He still wanted to look nice for Dean, date or not, he was almost sure that his boyfriend would like to see him in other clothes aside from the same ones he’d worn for over a decade. And it was with that thought in mind that he ditched his usual trench coat and suit, and wore a long sleeved henley in an actual color that wasn’t blue or beige - red - and a pair of dark wash jeans that were hanging, brand new, in his closet. The red shade made his eyes pop, he thought as he looked into the mirror in the bathroom and ran a hand through his dark hair. Dean was going to hate it. On his way, he stopped off at the bar and grabbed a six pack of bottled beer, which Dean probably already had but he felt - okay, nervous - and he needed to carry something when he went in. He stepped through the door and into the theater, a smile lighting his face as his eyes fell immediately on Dean, and he walked over to him. “Wow, look at you,” Cas said with a grin, the backs of his fingers brushing down Dean’s freshly smooth face. Beard or stubble, smooth or - whatever, Dean was always going to be the most beautiful human that existed to Castiel. So, he was biased. Fine. He was in love. Cas moved forward and pressed their lips together, giving Dean a semi chaste greeting before he pulled back and held up the sixpack. “I uh, brought beer.” When Cas walked in, Dean found himself staring in awe. Something was different about him, and he looked amazing. "Me? Look at you," he scoffed in return, shaking his head. Damnit, he should have worn something different. Then again, he didn't exactly have too much variety to work with in his closet. It was either flannel casual, or a suit, and a suit would have been overkill. It wasn't like he was about to propose or anything. "You look…" the way Castiel looked at him made him feel like he was floating on air and he found himself blushing even. "You ditched the usual, and I am definitely not complaining at all." The first thing he had noticed was his eyes, followed by the beer in his hands. Son of a bitch. How the fuck had he forgotten to bring beer? Of all the things to forget, that was pretty important. He reached out to take the other man's free hand and pulled him towards the section he had set up for them. "Now, there are five movies in total, but we don't have to watch them all in one sitting." Cas felt his face heat at Dean’s eyes on him, just the way he looked at him, like he was something worth looking at, and the way it made him feel was indescribable. He smiled and gave a small shrug, the features on his face definitely softening under Dean’s gaze. “Just trying something different. I thought that it was time to try a little change.” He didn’t go into more detail, because he was sure that would sound like nervous rambling, and he wasn’t nervous. Not very nervous. Why was he nervous? He took the opportunity to lace his fingers through Dean’s as he was pulled over towards a section of seats that Dean had already took the time to set up for them. He was kind of flabbergasted, honestly. It wasn’t often that anyone cared enough to do things like this with him in mind. Just because he was an angel didn’t mean that he couldn’t enjoy things because he didn’t need them. It made him want to kiss Dean again for being so thoughtful. “I don’t think we’ve ever watched a slasher film together, and I haven’t seen one at all,” he remarked, sliding into the row and setting the beer down next to the other stuff. “So I’m interested. I’ll watch as many as you want to watch.” He reached out and touched Dean’s face again. “We have all night. Or well, until the hotel throws us back into our room.” It was definitely nice to see Castiel in something other than the suit and trench coat. "If you're not comfortable dressed like that, you can change back, it's okay." He wasn't sure why Cas always wore the same thing, but he was okay with it either way. "We have not watched a slasher film before, you are correct." Dean was pretty sure that it didn't matter what they watched. Cas was just interested in spending time with him. "You keep touching my face. Does it look bad? Do I not look good with a clean face?" Why the hell was he so concerned with his looks? This nervousness was bullshit and he couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. "Take a seat, I'll start the movie." He motioned for Cas to sit down and then moved over to the projector to hit play. Dean waited until it started to roll and then hit the lights before moving back to sit down next to Cas. "I hope you're prepared for the awesome that is David Yaeger." “It’s just clothes, they don’t make or break me. I do feel like I fit in better with these.” Gabriel was wearing something different every time he saw him, so Castiel felt like maybe he should give it a try, too. He could change it any time he liked, go back to his suit, but maybe it was just time to let old habits die. “Dean, you’re very handsome, clean shaven or not, I just like your face and I like touching it normally, but it’s so soft today,” he kissed Dean’s jaw and pressed his nosed lightly against his neck. “And you smell so good. But I can stop touching you, if you’d like. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.” Cas sat down in an empty seat and watched as the screen came to life with the credits of what they were about to watch. He loved this part of the movie theater experience the best; when the lights went low and the brightest light came from the screen and the movie that was on it. With darkness surrounding him, it was almost like he was there, watching things play out from his very own personal vantage point outside of the actors window. “And David Yaeger is the hatchet man, right?” His voice was slightly hushed, why, he didn’t know - they were the only ones in there. “Cas, stop, come on,” Dean ducked his head slightly as a warm blush crept over his cheeks. “It doesn’t make me uncomfortable.” He gave the other man’s hand a slight squeeze and sat down next to him in the chair. It was difficult to resist the urge to kiss him, so he opted just to keep holding his hand as they sat side by side in the theater. His thumb brushed over Castiel’s palm every so often and Dean kept his gaze on the screen. “Hmm, yes, he becomes the hatchet man and gets his revenge. You’ll see for yourself soon enough.” “Then I won’t stop touching you unless you tell me to,” Smiling, Cas gave Dean’s jaw one last brush with his opposite, free hand and leaned closer into Dean, just inches from putting his head on his shoulder. He almost couldn’t believe he had been nervous earlier; he lived in the same room with Dean, shared the same bed (and more often than not, the same shower at the same time), but maybe feeling like that every once in a while was a good thing. It kept things new and fresh, especially in a place where things could get a little boring at times. But he would stay here forever if it meant that he could always be with Dean. Eyes on the screen, he reached over and got some popcorn, popped a couple of pieces in his mouth and held some near Dean’s mouth in an offering that he could refuse or accept; not everyone was comfortable with other people feeding them. Despite having seen the films so much that he could recite them word for word, Dean still took it seriously when he was watching the movies. “Cas, are you paying attention? Something really amazing is about to come up in a few minutes.” He softly scolded the other but turned his head to accept the popcorn. His lips brushed against the other man’s and he gave him a quick peck on the mouth. Dean pulled away with a smile and gave Cas’ hand a firm squeeze. “I think you’re adorable, by the way.” “I’m paying attention,” Cas declared, but his eyes moved between Dean and the screen. He really was listening, if Dean quizzed him, he’d pass, but Dean was always a marvel to look at, and it would always give him butterflies every time that he recalled that this man was his. “But something important is already happening.” He was referring, of course, to the relationship between him and Dean. “But I’m watching.” Cas grinned, blushing at the being called adorable as he returned Dean’s kiss and covered their twined hands with his empty one. “I just hope it’s not too scary,” he teased. “I might end up in your lap.” “What’s ha- ohhhh, I get it.” Dean laughed softly and looked at Cas with a grin. “If it gets too scary, you are more than welcome to take a seat in my lap. In fact...why don’t you just go ahead and make yourself comfortable now?” He set the popcorn off to the side, in another chair, and shifted against his seat to make room for Cas, patting his lap when he was finally situated. That was definitely not an offer that Cas was going to turn down, so when Dean situated himself and patted his legs, Cas stood and slid easily into his lap and draped an arm around Dean’s neck. “I feel much safer now, thank you,” he kissed Dean beneath his ear and settled back a bit against him to watch the movie. They might not actually make it through the movie, at least not completely, but really, it didn’t matter if they had to eventually start the thing over, more time with Dean was always a plus. |
