She nodded in commiseration as Peter confirmed for her that peace never lasted. Perhaps it was simply not meant to do so, but Diana worked hard to live her life in accordance with the laws of the Amazons, which meant spreading peace and love at every opportunity. She had to admit that sometimes, that could be very difficult, but she supposed that if it were easy, Mankind would not have needed the Amazons to show them the way. “Perhaps it is simply not meant to, and so we treasure the moments of peace all the more because of it.” Peter had scored a few more goals in the meantime, but Diana finally managed to get her second one in, and she grinned.
Peter put her ideas into much better words, and so she simply listened for a time, focusing on the game for a moment. It didn’t make her any better at it, but she was still having fun, so that didn’t bother her any. Besides, what else was there to do? Go sit in her room and hear whispers from the corners, knowing darn good and well that that silly clock radio might go off at any moment, despite not being plugged in? No, she much preferred foosball and this new human.
“If it is foosball that finally brings peace to Mankind, I shall weep, Peter.” Diana was very clearly joking, and the light dancing in her bright brown eyes would have said as much, but her face remained grave until she could no longer stand it and began to giggle.
