She nodded, very pleased with the ease of comparison to soccer, because that, she understood. So she nodded again to confirm that Peter could drop the ball and they began to play. As expected, she wasn’t great at it, if only because she’d never touched one before. She understood the concept and strategy just fine, and in fact better than most humans might on first brush, but she still had to go through the motions. And go through them without crushing the rubberized metal in her grip.
“I may take you up on that, especially if the power doesn’t come back on soon. There are plenty of outdoor sports that could be played, too,” she said thoughtfully, biting her lower lip as she looked down at the foosball table.
They had been playing for a few minutes when Diana scored her first goal, and she got so excited she let go of the handles to do a little clap and a hop. “Yay! I got one!” Peter was still beating her by a few, but that didn’t bother her any. Every game had a winner and a loser, and this was not a game where lives were on the line. She could afford to lose, and even be pleased with it.
