"Mm, I don't know if you should say that you're bored out loud. The hotel might just hear you." Steve was starting to wonder if the walls really did have ears around the Crown Plaza. The odd timing of items randomly appearing - like the Winter Soldier book - were just a little too eerie to shrug off as nothing. Claiming that they were bored might just lead to another trip to Bugtopia. It seemed like there was never anything in-between. It was always silence or pure disaster with this place.
He felt bad for Tony being bored, but Steve selfishly wanted him here rather than back in their timeline. Better bored than dead. Yet another thought he would keep to himself, though it might have shown on his face.
At the mention of Peter, though, Steve reached out, giving Tony's shoulder a gentle squeeze. Out of the many images that haunted Steve, Tony's return from space would forever be one of them. He had spoken of losing Peter almost immediately and in that moment, Steve's heart had ached for him. He knew how much the kid meant to Tony. Having this adult Parker running around must have brought about some conflicting feelings.
"If you're so bored, maybe I could teach you how to cook when the power comes back on. Or, if not me, then someone? That's.. not meant to be a jab. Some people find it relaxing, you know. Maybe you will too, once you get the hang of it. And it would help with the boredom. And the stress. For years, all we've done is fight and solve other people's problems. Wouldn't hurt to learn a normal skill that doesn't have anything to do with either of those things, right?"
