It was humanizing. It was easy for people to forget that sometimes about Steve -- Tony was pretty sure that Steve forgot it too; that he was allowed to be just as human as everyone else, mistakes and bad choices included. Sure, some of his mistakes were weightier than an average guys's but ... well. His heart was in the right place.
"If you need Tony Stark to be the voice of reason, you're already in a bad place," Tony tsked it out, but was warmed over the joke. Maybe there was a little part of him that was jealous that Steve didn't go back for him. Not that he'd ever say so. He sipped his drink and considered the question for a moment.
"I'm bored," he said after a beat, an honest admission. "And I'm tired and a little stressed and every time I look at Peter I think about Pete." He shook his head over that one. "I've got stuff I need to do back home. Important shit, save the universe, have a kid -- et cetera. And I don't really want to do any of it." But he couldn't say he was having a super fun time here, either. That was mostly the boredom speaking though - there was only so much to do around here, even in times of crisis. He'd already set up a power source and safe haven and everyone was remarkably self reliant otherwise.
