In truth, it was probably the part of Matt that still felt exceedingly guilty for everything he'd put Foggy and Karen through recently that had him here with a complete stranger rather than seeking either of them out at a time like this. The longer he could put that off the better in some ways, if the never had to be in the same space together he never had to hear the disappointment in their voices again. It was better like this. For now at least, he knew that was a moment he could only put off for so long.
"Yeah, I'm from New York and I mean you know how that place can be... or-" Matt paused to consider, after all Clint had told him people came from different places, times, places he'd never even considered. "Do you know what it's like?" He wondered, curious now about where his new companion was from, if it was from his own world or somewhere else entirely, some place that would give his brain a work out to try and wrap itself around.
Despite what Matt hoped was an easy conversation, and the company of another person - Amos, his name was Amos - still seemed to be caught up in fear, it was pouring off him in waves with each beat of his heart and Matt wanted to soothe that even a little bit if he could, without being entirely obvious about it. "Nice to meet you Amos." He nodded when Amos struggled with the length of time that he'd been there, Matt felt that too about this place, something about the passage of time felt off and Matt didn't like that at all. "This place is something else."
Matt was surprised when Amos mentioned space, that was - not exactly what he expected. "So you're from space?" He asked, "Or are you an astronaut?" He wondered, maybe if they got talking about something as benign as their jobs Amos could calm down some.
