WHO: Duncan Idaho & OPEN
WHAT: Duncan Idaho's arrival, and subsequent medical drama
WHEN: When Duncan lands in the lobby
WHERE: Lobby
RATING: not sure, PG-13? (blood, violence, likely some cussing will happen)
STATUS: in progress
Duncan had gone to Sietch Tabr hoping to convince Stilgar how completely Alia had succumbed to possession. It killed him to say it, but it was the truth. She had allowed it...no HE had allowed it to happen and he knew that there was only one way to stop her. But Stilgar wouldn't see it, all to maintain the peace of neutrality. They had talked all night in circles that always came back around to the same points. He had known the outcome before he'd gone to the man but had hoped somehow against hope that his computations would be wrong.
When he was sure there was no other way he mentally prepared himself for what would come next. He chose the words he would say carefully and then waited for the opportunity to use them with the best effect. As if on cue Javid walked into the room and Duncan knew the moment had come. HE knew the action he would have to take, and he would enjoy it. The man rose quickly to his feet and silently crossed the room in only a few steps his arm coming up with a knife already in hand. If anyone saw him they did not have time to react before he drew his arm down and plunged the knife into the chest of the man who had cuckolded him. He gave the knife a twist and Javid fell backwards off of it with a look of complete surprise.
By the time Stilgar reacted Duncan's knife was already back in its sheath and he was walking out of the room knowing the naib would have no choice but to follow him. Though he had planned their last exchange it still hurt his soul to say such words to his old friend.
"You wear a collar!" He heard the shocked reactions around him. He could hear the anger in Stilgar's responses as he moved through the doorway with the older man on his heels.
"You are a servant! You've sold Fremen for their water!" That one drew a gasp from a woman as Duncan spat the words back over his shoulder.
The final insult, the one he knew would push the naib past his breaking point. "You have no immortality! None of your descendants carry your blood!" Within moments of the words leaving his lips Duncan felt a hand on his shoulder. He couldn't keep the smile from his eyes, or his lips as he felt the blade enter his body. He saw the shock in Stilgar's eyes as the man realised that he had been pushed into this.
He had died before and expected this time to be no different. Duncan closed his eyes and opened his mouth to speak his last words, "Two deaths for the Atreides. The second for no better reason than the first." Only this time was different. The words rang through a room and instead of the nothingness of death he felt the moisture in the air and it was startling.
The sounds around him were confusing and he opened his eyes again and stared at the walls of the room he now occupied. Gone were the comforting stone walls of the sietch. Gone were the oddly comforting smells and sounds of people all around him. With a sigh, he closed his eyes again and let his head fall back to the floor. He would be dead soon enough.
