Natasha knew she could've stalled a little longer - it wouldn't be that hard to do that really, because she could easily distract him - but their relationship had evolved beyond the physical. In a lot of ways, half his draw was his insights and cleverness, the way he could poke holes in things and talk out different threads with her. So in that vein, she went ahead and replied, albeit a little slowly.
"I'm not annoyed...I'm angry. That they didn't tell me, that they were doing it period - and the fact that not only were they experimenting with things they barely understand, but that it went wrong? That's even worse," Natasha said quietly before lifting her eyes to his. "They're lucky that these portals are the worst that happened, at least so far. They endangered the people here, John. All of us, and even the trillions of lives back in the universe I'm from. If they'd sent back people who didn't want to go, or worse - if they sent me back and I didn't die? They might've undone my sacrifice." Saying it all out loud helped to put her fears in order, and she knew that John would understand, even though it was pretty heavy for them to deal with in their current situation.
Finishing the strawberry after a minute, Natasha snorted quietly at his comment about the gondolas. "It might be nice to just float down the river together....and without chocolate going in uncomfortable places."
