"All shopping is fun, even when it's scoping out the competition," Theo said decisively. "Though I expect your right about the competition here. It's nothing to worry about, and is only fleeting in nature as far as we're concerned." Much like the hotel itself, but that didn't have to be thought about right now. "So Apparition is like teleportation. I picture a place in my mind that I want to go, concentrate, and then disappear and reappear in that place. It could be five feet from here or across an entire country, as long as I know where I'm going. And the Floo network is a set of connected fireplaces, and with a special powder we can state where we went to go and travel there. I prefer to Apparate or fly. Floo can be messy, and easy to arrive somewhere you didn't intend."
Theo grinned, took another long sip of the ale. It was growing on him, and he would 't mind another pint after this one. He felt all warm, but that could have just been from the company. "I suppose I do. I like other creatures as well, but I've always had a soft spot for winged animals, horses especially. They were my only friends growing up, which I don't know why I just said that. I think this ale is rather stronger than I anticipated." Theo giggled at the comment about bandits. "But land pirates sound much more impressive. I petition from this moment forward, bandits are referred as land pirates." He took another drink.
"I think your land sounds very interesting. Different from what I know, but fascinating just the same." He considered it. "Perhaps a bit too much adventure for my tastes though." Recent decision-making aside, Theo was no Gryffindor, apt to go rushing into dangerous situations just for the thrill of it. "I would love to see your home. Perhaps the hotel will take us there one day, though from what I understand it tends to bring us to worlds unfamiliar to everyone."
Theo nodded. "That sounds very similar to the aeroplanes the Muggles use, but I like the sound of yours better. I don't trust all that metal. A ship with a large balloon on top seems much safer, honestly." He would like to see one, but perhaps he would get the chance one day. "Oh, I would probably bore you with talk of all our shops, so we can save that for a rainy day. I say we finish this ale, then take a look at these shops."
