How many times had he tugged on Steve’s hand, wishing to hold onto it just a little longer and now he could lock their fingers together for as long as he liked. Bucky knew he hadn’t been as physically affectionate as he used to be. It wasn’t that he desired to be that way any less. If anything, he craved it more. He just ...wasn’t used to doing it as much anymore. Now was as good a time as any to get back into that habit.
The smile he carried as Steve pulled them down into the candy valley was too big for his face and by the time they reached the carnival, his cheeks hurt. But Steve’s enthusiasm was too adorable and their hands together felt too nice so the smile stayed. “Wooing me with toys already?” Bucky turned and tucked himself into Steve’s side, chin hovering over his shoulder as he looked at all the booths around them.
To see the stuffed animals he might wanted.
And to remind himself how Steve felt against him. So he definitely took his time deciding. Once he did spot both game and toy, he leaned his head back and smirked. Without a word, he lifted his right hand and moved Steve’s chin towards the direction of a gumball booth behind them. But these were gumballs as big as their heads. And the net they were meant to be thrown into, woven with red licorice, was tall enough that maybe if he stood on Steve’s shoulders, he could reach it. There were nets closer to the ground that were easier but Bucky pointed to the large stuffed green sour-looking gumball that was above all the other prizes.
“Win me that,” he asked, leaning in again so he could say that directly into Steve’s ear.
