"Steve. Did you seriously just eat that?" Poison would have been his first guess and Steve was goddamn lucky he didn't croak right then and there. Bucky knew better than to trust anything. Even sugar-spun landscape. But when Steve was teasing his mouth with candy apple flavored grass, logic and reason took the backseat. He struggled not to grin because he felt like he should have scolded Steve for putting something in his mouth from some magical place that they'd never been to before. And now he was trying to get him to eat it.
Bucky glared mildly at the grass in Steve's hand, then over at Steve. He opened his mouth and took a cautious bite. Guess he really would try anything Steve put near his mouth.
The grass even crunched like an apple would. He nearly chomped Steve's poor fingers off trying to get the rest. "Waddya know," Bucky licked his lips. "Is everything edible here?" If his eyes drifted over Steve when he said that, it was purely coincidental, he would swear.
With the taste of apple in his mouth and the smell of popcorn drifting up from the carnival below, the temptation to find out what else this place had to offer was impossible to ignore. "Your only weakness is your ability to lie," Bucky chuckled as he threw him a dubious raised eyebrow. At least to him. Even if it had been awhile, he could still recognize the highs and lows of Steve's voice. The tones he used when he meant different things. Different feelings. At least, he liked to think he still could. "I'll be gentle," he added as he reached out to gently pat at Steve's stomach.
As he dropped his left arm back to his side, he had an idea. "What if-" and Bucky was so glad he'd washed his hair that day to be asking this. "I mean, we could make it a date?"
