Steve nodded. He had figured as much. Still, it was best not to draw his own conclusions. Different realities, different versions of themselves -- the concept still managed to make Steve's head spin. But he knew enough to realize that these alternate versions had the potential to be drastically different. Peter was a great example of that. 'Peter Parker' still evoked the image of a chatty high school kid in Steve's mind. And this Peter was.. not that. Which wasn't a bad thing. Just different.
When they reached the churro stall, Steve tried not to show his disapproval over the fact that there were several different flavors. Maybe he really was just an old man on the inside. And maybe he was a little judgmental because of it. But did the world really need Oreo flavored churros? Needless to say, he'd order a classic one for himself. He wasn't the least bit curious to know what the others tasted like.
While they waited, Steve gave Tony a look. That expression that gave away just how badly he was itching to ask, are you okay? But Steve had already asked that very question recently and deep down, he had a feeling he knew the answer he'd get. Tony Stark was always okay, even when he wasn't. And maybe, right now wasn't the best time to needle for something deeper. So he settled on, "How was the coffee, by the way? I forgot to ask. Bucky always tells me it's fine, but I think I could stand to hear some honest criticism."
