Once his memories of the hotel came back, Bucky felt ....not normal again but as close to it as he was going to get for now. And that was fine. Even though there was a constant grey cloud hovering above him, he focused on the few rays of light poking through. He had people here who cared about him, who didn’t see him as a tool to use for their own gain. People he could actually call friends. He held Clint and Natasha very close his heart. Between the two of them, they got him to open up a little bit more with every day. There were still days where he’d rather hide in his bed with Steve but then there were days like today where he craved the fresh air and something new. The first memory he had of the hotel was his first arrival. It had been New Years and everyone had got together to throw one hell of a party. He and Steve had danced that night- Yes. That was a good memory. But it brought up his current problem. Bucky had been on dates before. Plenty of them. But he’d never actually dated anyone before. Not seriously. And now that he and Steve were together (again), Buck wanted to make it official by taking Steve out on their first real date. Except this wasn’t Brooklyn. The hotel was practically their home and it felt lackluster to just take Steve down to the bar or the dining room. Of course Steve would be happy with just the two of them sharing a soda in the lobby and that was sweet and all but Bucky wanted to really impress him. But he didn’t know where to do that exactly. Or how. He spent most of the afternoon walking around the hotel, glaring at everything in the hopes that something would inspire him. The sun was just starting to set when he ended up at the docks. His mind started to drift and he ended up staring at the docks for some time. Standing there with his arms crossed and that far off look in his eyes, someone might have thought he was waiting for something to happen. |
