Ben would have assumed Rey would have pleasant things to say. At least, recently pleasant. But if he’d known that the Poe Dameron had said anything remotely nice about him to anyone, he might have died of shock.
“We could make a nice barbecue out of a few. They’d make a perfect main course for that family dinner,” Ben teased him with half a grin. The only one of them, that Ben knew, that could cook anything decently would be Armitage though. Ben chose not to mention his own experiences in the kitchen. Maybe for Finn, he would try making those cinnamon rolls again. He took the bag-shirt and plopped the dead rabbits inside.
Thankfully Ben didn’t have to go through his family tree. It sounded like Rey had explained his connection to her teacher. Even if it was just the younger version of his uncle, Ben was grateful for his presence. His uncle always had such a calming effect on others. He nodded and started going around, poking at more bushes. “It’s not the same Luke Skywalker from our timeline though. This version, he’s younger than me.” His dad had been here too but again, Ben kept silent. Han had also disappeared, like other people in the hotel, and Ben was still a little sore about it. “You’ll like him. Most everyone that meets him do.” As far as Finn’s skills and tentative connection to the Force, that would have be something his uncle would have to figure out.
Ben’s head snapped to attention. “Poe talked about me? To you?” He couldn’t help the suspicious tone. There couldn’t have been much said. It wasn’t like he and Poe had become friends really.
Casual coffee kissers, sure but nothing else. He wondered what Poe would think about the two of them walking around shirtless right now-
“I should have killed Snoke long before I found Rey. Well, you found Rey. But yes,” he nodded. Had Rey mentioned the proposal he’d made to her afterwards? Hopefully not. Ben turned and snapped a rabbit’s neck as it came running at them through the tall grass. Ari rushed to pick it up and started to chew on the ears before he whistled for her to come back. “I took over as Supreme Leader after.” Emphasis on took.
