When it came to monsters, one small mistake could mean the difference between a mere flesh wound or the end of his life. But when it came to people, mistakes were ...more complicated. As much as he would like it to be, his relationships weren’t as simple as black or white. With Yennefer, the witcher had made many mistakes. It seemed that was all he knew how to do around her. The only real success he’d been able to have with the sorceress was in pissing her off. It would have been something he would have taken great pride in if he didn’t care for her or her opinion. If it was the jinn’s influence or not, it didn’t matter to him. He didn’t believe any being could have that much control over his own feelings anyhow. Hopefully destiny didn’t have the mind to prove him wrong. It wasn’t Geralt’s direct intent to bring frustration and ire into Yennefer’s life but it did seem that every interaction between them would end in an argument. Due to his own stubbornness, most likely. He meant to clear the air between them, to make things right and pleasant again, but the opportunity never presented itself. Something was always happening. Or that was the excuse he kept giving to himself as day after day passed. Until the morning of the eyes. He and Roach had gone out for a stroll out through the woods, as they usually did when the witcher needed that breathing space out of the hotel. The recent addition of the toy-eyes placed on seemingly random things was the perfect excuse to escape for some air. Geralt hadn’t anticipated running into anyone out there, least of all Yennefer but there she was up ahead in the little clearing. He tried to turn and head back, not wanting to pounce on her unexpected, but Roach was already bounding ahead to see her. |
