It was working. Caleb hadn't really expected himself to give into it this much. He wasn't usually much for indulgence. But this was Caduceus, and he knew that the offer hadn't been made with any sort of obligation in mind. That wasn't the sort of person he was. He was generous, open with his gifts, and in the short time they had known each other he had always been honest to the point of being downright blunt. If there was any obligation it this at all, Caleb would have known from the start. The only thing he felt was a sincere desire from a friend to see that he felt better. And he appreciated it more than he thought he could properly express.
"Maybe," Caleb chuckled. "I just hope the others aren't around when it happens." Mostly because he felt being naked in front of them would be awkward - Caduceus had always seemed to avoid it, anyway, and Caleb most certainly had as well. But he realized the implication of what he'd said only after the words had left his lips. A faint blush colored his cheeks and he ducked his head slightly, almost missing it when Caduceus started to speak again.
"We all have our own burdens to bear," he said, absent-mindedly shrugging. "I don't think mine is any greater than your concern for your home or Fjord's fear of the thing in the sea. We're all haunted by something, I think." And it wasn't that he thought his was any bigger, it was just the fact that his was actively hunting him. That made a bit of a difference. Uk'otoa had been a bigger issue when they were on the sea. Vokodo had been an issue during TravelerCon. Surely they would come back and address the creeping poison in the Savalirwood, too. He didn't think it was just him holding a world of weight on his shoulders. It was just that, maybe, he let it overwhelm him a little more.
Caleb turned slowly, whatever magic that was in the oil making him feel warm and loose and tingly, and faced Caduceus again. They were rather close, weren't they? He should have probably moved back a bit. But he didn't. He just stayed there, awkward, unsure of what to do or even what his brain thought was a good idea to do.
