Caduceus was curious by nature, and he'd always been so fascinated by the smooth skin of his friends. Humans were so strange, the places they grew their hair.
He glanced at Caleb. Then he glanced again. He'd understood early on that it wasn't really the done thing to stare, even when Beau was parading around nude, bold as brass with no concern for modesty. He'd grown up in a big family, nudity was commonplace, but he respected the boundaries of other people.
Naked touching was new, though. Not... not naked touching, but touching whilst naked. Yasha and Jester and Beau were easy with their gestures of affection even in the big baths they'd shared, but this was different. He knew it was different, even if he couldn't place why. None of them had ever bathed each other. Well, not platonically. That was something.
Caduceus slid into the water, humming happily at the warmth embracing him. He ducked down until just his head was above the water, then bobbed slowly towards Caleb. And the basket.
"My parents were always very strict about what we took into the springs, nothing that could hurt the ecosystem, nothing that could damage the plants," he said, peering into the basket, uncorking a few of the vials and sniffing them. "They didn't enforce a lot of rules- no punching each other when inside the temple, no shouting when tending the graves, no soap or chemicals in the hot springs."
He chose a vial that smelt of orange and cinnamon. It was exactly how Caleb looked as though he should smell, and Caduceus' senses were pleased. He left it on the rock behind them, since there should probably be a little bit of...something before touching.
"So this feels kind of naughty. In a good way. You know? Clara is going to be so jealous when I tell her about this."
He smiled, sinking down low enough in the pool that his hair floated gently around him.
"I've found something that smells as though you should smell like it. Not that you smell bad, but it's...aromatic. I like the way you smell," he shrugged. Caduceus had said that before. He was sure everyone had thought it was odd then. Maybe it was. It didn't made.
