Excited was definitely a good look on Caleb, and it warmed Caduceus' heart to see the expression on his face. And he was privileged to be party to whatever it was that was causing it.
There was no way he could have anticipated what was going to be behind the big sliding doors though. It took a second, but when the realisation dawned his breath caught in his throat and his legs wobbled slightly. It was an intensity of emotion he hadn't indulged in in a long time, and his eyes darted around in wonder. It was his home. It was perfect.
"Caleb," his voice was uncharacteristically rough, his steadying breaths shaking slightly. "Caleb, I don't know what to say." Caduceus stepped closer, stepped into the room, reaching for one thing then distracted by another. "This is the most wonderful thing." A blink and a tear slid its way down his cheek. He'd been so close to being here in person. So close.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Thank you so much," he whispered, taking in another deep breath to steady himself before turning to his friend again.
"I suppose if we're both in there it'll be a lot easier to wash your hair."
Unbuckling his armour, Caduceus began to stack it against the wall outside of the room, then undoing his boots and leaving them there, too. He stepped back onto the grassy, mossy ground barefoot, enjoying the feeling of it as he stripped off his light, finely woven shift.
"What's in the basket?" he asked, tugging at the fastenings of his pants.
