Naturally, Audrey hoped she wouldn't be the first person here to punch their ticket outside of a bug-infested wasteland or similar horrifying nightmare scenario. But she had also fallen out of bed twice this week and corners of tables were like magnets for her body. It was almost inevitable. But at least they could maybe keep each other in check. Every dumbass needed an overly cautious friend to fill that role for them. Evolutionary pack tactics or something like that.
She shoved her wet hair out of her face and found the jet again, this time pulling herself up a bit so it hit about mid-back. "I'm usually pretty good on dopamine," she said, "because of the Adderall script. Though it can actually go both ways depending on the brain and how it reacts to central nervous system stimulants. "Have our conversations really been sex toys, sharks, drowning, and drugs? Cause that's kind of amazing and where have you been all my life?"
Mostly it was the fact that he didn't so much as blink when she rapid-fire smashed through the weirdest topics two people could have while mostly naked in a swimming pool. And that was a quality she both respected and enjoyed in another human being. There was also the fact that she had more energy at nearly two in the morning than she had at any hour on the other side of sunrise. And he was still just chilling. Cool.
