"No." It was an honest answer if any. "I don't prefer it, but the truth of it is, if I disappear from here, you and I both know my fate. Sometimes it's easier to consider that information before doing anything. If you are the one to disappear, I will at least know you are still alive in the immediate future. And, I have a suspicion, for a time to come yet. I get the feeling that as long as we have soldiers to look after, you'll be around." He chuckled dryly. "So that changes things on my end, otherwise, my romantic heart couldn't handle the loss as well."
