Theo fought against his instinct to pull his hand away. He wasn't used to random people touching him, but he understood the importance of allowing it in this situation. It was the same as Side-Along Apparition, he decided, in theory, if not in practice. "Ah, we call that Splinching, though with proper attention from a Healer the most lasting effect might be a scar." The spinning feeling sounded like a Portkey more than Apparating, but neither had ever bothered Theo overly much so he wasn't worried.
The look of the portal itself was interesting. "It's so pretty," he commented, looking at the swirl of colors as they changed from orange to blue. "Much better than using a moldy old boot for a Portkey." It really was a neat bit of magic, he thought. He'd like to learn how to make one, if possible. He could Apparate, of course, and he knew the spell for a Portkey, but this just looked cool.
He stepped through with her, and the sensation of being pulled in different directions was familiar. He concentrated on the feel of Ciri's hand in his and followed her through to the other side. "That wasn't so bad," he said after he'd gained his footing on the docks. "Smoother than a Portkey, and better than travel via Floo Powder--that's through fireplaces that are connected on a network." He grinned at her. "So, how far can you go with a portal? Are there limits?"
