Daphne stood very still for a while, taking in the tone of his voice and the way he looked seriously at her. Was he really judging her? She even went so far as to start wincing before he smiled. "Heeeey," she whined at being teased. She had steeled herself for an outright no, but he didn't deny her. That brought a hopeful smile to her lips.
When he spoke again, she shifted her attention closely to his words. There were the basic concepts he had laid the ground for spellwork with, and she was already trying to build the path to follow in her mind.
She didn't start immediately, though she was tempted for prep. She didn't want to miss whatever else he was going to say was different after she pulled the energy. And she was rewarded for her attention as she slowly repeated the hand gesture once, then again, before trying it again but faster.
"Okay..." she said, before letting out a sharp exhale. Pulling together her energy as she usually did, she tried to reach out and feel the air around her. It was more complicated than the shield spells, but she'd also had more practice with them to the point of not having to think too much when doing it. But now that she'd done the gesture, she was feeling a whole different type of dispersal. "Warmer ore colder..." she was thinking warmer and the temperature rose. "Do I have to hold it continuously or would I be able to set it?"
Because if she was going to be out with Din, there was a high chance she would not be able to concentrate on this spell and give him her full attention. The temperature went up a little more just thinking about it. ...and it was gone. "Fuck," she muttered under her breath and shook her hands out.
