The exploration with Senku had led to very few developments in regards to the island's power, but Theo had enjoyed himself nonetheless. It had come as something of a surprise that he now thought of Senku as a friend. It was a new experience for Theo; he hadn't made a friend since his first year at Hogwarts and hadn't thought he had any need to expand his social circle beyond the other Slytherins. Now he had two if he counted Regulus as well. This hotel was strange beyond its magic it seemed. He'd settled in the lobby to go over the research he and Regulus had started to compile the night before. Despite the yellow decor, it was as good a place as any to observe the comings and goings of the other residents. At the moment, it was nearly deserted and quiet enough to focus on his notes. He could feel a headache starting simply because there wasn't much to make sense of, but there had to be a pattern somewhere, they just hadn't found it yet. A noise pulled him from his musing, and he looked up to see who had just come into the lobby. What--who--he saw made his stomach clench with anxiety. Rabastan Lestrange. How could he be here? This wasn't good. Theo was torn between running and hiding, but he did neither. He thought about sending a message to Regulus, but he wasn't fast enough with the cell phone to do it in both a timely and subtle manner. Instead, he stayed where he was, observing. Maybe Rabastan wouldn't notice him, and he could find Regulus and they could decide what to do. Luck wasn't on his side though. Rabastan looked around the lobby, and his gaze found Theo almost immediately. It wasn't so surprising; he was one of the only people here. Theo's choice was taken from him; he was going to have to deal with this. His wand was a comforting presence at his side, and though he doubted he'd be able to best Rabastan in a duel, he'd at least try to distract him enough to get away if it came to that. He didn't think it would; Rabastan probably wasn't crazy enough to attack him. He'd have no reason to. "Rabastan," he said, rising as his mother's cousin headed his way. "When did you arrive?" |
