All Ellie could do was blink, and then pull Dina in for a hug, hold her tight against her chest, stroke her hair. "You're the most infuriating person I've ever met," she said softly, rocking her back and forth. "But I love you. I love you so much and I need you in my life." She kissed Dina's forehead, ran her fingers through her hair, just enjoyed the solid weight of her against her for a moment.
"I'm trying really hard to get better for real," she says, voice low and soft. "And I hope you stay with me while I do." And then, all in one breath: "Abby's alive, she's here, but I mean, she's from a different moment in time here, which means that, back at home, the Abby that we know is still floating around, I guess? But anyway, Abby's alive, because I let her live, because I literally realized that killing her was fucking stupid, not going to bring Joel back, and not going to fix any of the things that were broken--in me, in the world, in any of this? Uhhh and also she did this." Holding up her hand. "With her teeth."
