Dina was still hurt over what Ellie had done. What she had chosen, or rather who she had chosen, over her and JJ. They had built a family and a home together. Things had been going well. Then Tommy had shown up, telling Ellie there was news of Abby's location. Abby who had nearly killed her in the early months of her pregnancy. Abby who had nearly killed Ellie, too. Abby who had most definitely killed Joel.
It wasn't like Dina was stupid, she knew Ellie was still disturbed by seeing Joel die in front of her. Abby hadn't just killed him, she'd tortured him too. She also knew Ellie was still upset over everything she'd done in the name of revenge. But they were trying to move past it all. Until fucking Tommy had shown up and ruined everything. After he'd left, with Dina telling him off first, she should have known what would happen. She should have known Ellie would want to go after Abby again.
But she'd had more faith in her girlfriend than that. She'd really thought they had both put it all behind them.
So much for that.
After Ellie had left, Dina couldn't bear to stay there in the farmhouse without her. She'd gone back to Jackson. It was the safest place for them. They'd gone back to Jackson and there she had help with JJ. Jesse's parents were thrilled to have them back. She had told Tommy to go fuck himself and told Maria to keep him away from her or she'd kill him herself. It was his fault. He was lucky to be alive and he wanted to send Ellie back after the woman who'd nearly killed them all. Fucking asshole.
Except now Dina was here, without JJ, and by some odd luck, so was Ellie. She didn't know how to deal with that. She was still hurt. She was still mad. But, she'd agreed to let her ex-girlfriend have five minutes to talk to her. And now, she was standing outside the room Ellie had told her she was staying in. She knocked and it took no time for the other girl to let her in.
Ellie, in typical Ellie fashion, started rambling like she often did when she was nervous. Or when she knew she'd done something stupid and was trying to make up for it. Dina knew her better than anyone. Just because she was mad at her didn't change that fact. She crossed the room and took a seat on the unused bed next to Ellie's. Brown eyes met green and she took a deep breath.
"You wanted to talk, Ellie. I'm here. So, talk."
Dina hated the way things were between them, but she wasn't ready to just forgive Ellie either.
