Ari's eyes grew wide and they shined with hunger. Ben was quick to hold her against him, sensing her wanting to pounce as the other man stepped forward. "I'm actually not sure." He hadn't spoken with his uncle yet about Ari. Perhaps it was time to get Luke's opinion and soon, especially if Ari was starting to look at little birds like she was about to eat them.
But then the parakeet made a shrill noise and Ari cocked her head, as if confused about her meal speaking back to her. Ben would have laughed if he hadn't been worried.
"She has a tendency to spit fire so I'd probably not try petting her," Ben did warn him. "At least, until she knows you."
