There were things to be said about Tony, that was true. He was forgetful, and sometimes he was callous and dismissive without meaning to be to people who really didn't deserve it. He didn't always remember or care about personal or even national holidays.
But. He definitely tried. And if that wasn't evident by the fact that he'd neglected to bring his abomination potatoes but still brought breakfast to Pepper, maybe it was in the way he was breathing slow through his nose, and only trembling minutely with the effort it took to be still. Which was a lot. He wasn't good at still.
Not that that meant he didn't like to make the effort when Pepper asked it of him. The restraints helped.
Tony exhaled again. "I feel the need to come clean about the fact that I didn't make those pancakes," he said slowly, evenly.
