Theo had never been a fan of Valentine's Day. There was always too much pink for his liking, not to mention singing cards and girls fluttering their eyelashes. That had, thankfully, died down once he'd left school, but he still didn't see the appeal of the holiday. Well, aside from the chocolate. Chocolate was always a welcome addition to any holiday or any regular day for that matter. Waking up to a basket of chocolate had been a surprise, and despite his comments about only idiots taking candy from strangers, Theo had helped himself. After a few spells to make sure nothing was tainted of course. The rest of the food the hotel provided had proved to be safe thus far, he had no reason to think the chocolate was any different. It also became apparent that he was alone in his room, not that that was any different from any other days. He didn't mind; he'd borrowed a few books from the library and was spending his time going through them. When he finally ventured out to find food other than chocolate, it became clear that the hotel had changed. There were fewer people, for one thing, and for another, there was loud music coming from somewhere. It appeared the hotel was having a party, and while Theo wasn't too fond of parties, he supposed it was time to get to know the other residents. He couldn't spend all his time in his room or the library, avoiding people. If he was stuck here, and more importantly if he was going to find a way home, it was time to get started on the research. So he headed towards the noise, fighting down the nerves that always threatened him when he was faced with a social situation filled with people he didn't know. He was over that sort of awkwardness at this point in his life. He followed the noise to the roller-rink and saw that it was already filled with a good number of people. It was also very...pink and red. Definitely Valentine's Day party then. Even the food was pink and heart-shaped. Ah well, at least there was bound to be more chocolate. |
