WHO: Padme and Luke WHERE: The Iowa town WHEN: Thursday evening WHAT: Finding the speakeasy STATUS: Complete WARNINGS: PG-13 for drinking
Coming to terms with having a whole family that she may not even be alive to meet in their world had taken a while. Padme was the type of person who was caring and compassionate so she immediately accepted Luke and Ben at their word, seeing features of herself and Anakin in both of them, and wanted nothing more than to find out about them. When Luke offered to go find the "cantina" in the town Padme was more than happy to have some bonding time. She hadn't decided yet if she wanted to know how things happened in her life to lead to the end of it (something she was avoiding thinking about), but she wanted to know more about Luke's life. Especially since he seemed to have such a different life as a Jedi than the Order she had grown up knowing about. It was probably for the best because Padme quite often thought about how the Order seemed a little too old fashioned from time to time and it wasn't just because she had married a Jedi and had to keep it secret.
Now here she was walking with Luke into town and explaining her first time on Tatooine, "I was only 14, pretending to not be Queen, and I didn't really want to go get a drink at the cantina but I certainly wanted to see the inside of it. It was a different experience being there than it was on Naboo. I'm sure you were in the cantina a few times living there." It was more about breaking the rules and wanting to see how other people lived their lives on other planets. Qui-Gon Jinn had made sure she didn't go anywhere near the cantina, but it definitely caught her interest briefly, which quickly dissipated once they encountered Anakin and got involved in trying to pod race and free Anakin from Watto.
