Who: Eddie and Salim
Where: Kitchen
When: Wednesday morning
What: Date? Surprise!
Status: Ongoing
Warnings: None
Eddie was moving around the kitchen easily. Now that he was more familiar with the space and less worried about what sort of foods were there and cross contamination and everything else, cooking seemed less like a chore, most of the time. His hair was still damp from his post-run shower and though it was pushed back it wasn’t held down with product like it might have been in the past, and his clothes were simple and comfortable, just dark jeans and a soft t-shirt. He wasn’t really expecting to run into many people so he hadn’t worried much.
He was in the process of making something like a shakshuka, though he wasn’t actually following any recipe and added more vegetables than it seemed were normally used. It was something he’d come across in a cookbook weeks ago, when he had started eating eggs but not yet tried gluten, and found a fondness for. He’d just added his tomatoes to the pan when the whirlwind that was Richie Tozier had shown up, Salim in tow.
Eddie knew what Richie was up to, that he’d been talking to Salim about trying to get him and Eddie together, but he hadn’t expected for that to happen so quickly. And, if he were honest, he wasn’t sure he expected Salim to want to. Though, when the two showed up together Eddie figured it was all maybe a coincidence, there weren’t that many people in the hotel and it was easy enough to run into someone you knew unintentionally. And he might have believed that was the case, right up until Richie had stolen a piece of toast and made some flimsy excuse to leave on his own. Eddie glared as he left and there would be words later, but he didn’t hold any of it against Salim. He knew Richie well enough to know that this was his plan.
“Do you...want some?” he asked Salim once the dust settled, gesturing to the pan on the stove. He was a little bit awkward; Eddie was suddenly on a date he had not planned for and it had been a long time since he’d been on one. “I haven’t put the eggs in yet, I could add some extra.”
