"It wasn't devotion." Eddie didn't move, he didn't think he would for a while, even after Jinn left. "It was desperation. I didn't know it would help you. I don't think of you like a...god. I just wanted you to be okay and it was the only thing I could think of to try and contact you." It didn't change things. Eddie knew it wouldn't. But he needed to say it.
He nodded, finally glancing up to Jinn again, just briefly. "I'll think of something." But what could he ever come up with to equal what he'd done? Even unintentionally. Looking at Jinn, seeing the way he stood, the wisps of smoke from around his glasses, knowing what he knew now. His thoughts turned back to those that he'd had so often over the past week. He was only a man, and not even a particularly remarkable one. What could he ever be to gods and extraordinary beings? "You'll be free again, I'll make sure."
