It felt good to be back in the hotel, though Markus couldn't quite put his finger on why. Was this place starting to feel like the home he'd lost back with Carl? Yes, a little. He had North here and she was everything. Connor was here too, as was his partner and dog, which combined felt like almost like a family, of sorts. He missed Simon and Josh, but he had faith that they would be okay now that the war was over. He had to believe that. Markus hadn't really talked about the war with Connor since they'd arrive, the moment had never quite felt right. If he didn't address what they'd been through now he might fall back into their routine here and the conversation wouldn't happen. Which was why he scoured the hallways for his android friend and, eventually, found him in the library. If he wasn't in his room or with the dogs of this place, then he'd be here. "Hey Connor," Markus greeted him with a smile as he stepped into the room. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a while, but something always came up," he said by way of segue. He moved closer to his friend and rested his hand on his shoulder. "I wanted to say thank you. What you did back at CyberLife was incredible and we wouldn't have made it without you," he said with a small nod. "I felt I had to say the words. You saved us, Connor, all of us." |
