The last thing he remembered was pain. Awful, sharp pain. It had been nighttime and Salim had just stepped out to get some air. Oddly enough, he hadn't had too much trouble with the insects during his time at Bugland. In fact, he had experienced the contrary. At one point, he had found a cat-sized ladybug that rather enjoyed his company. The sweet beetle had hung around for three days straight, truly wanting nothing more than attention. Unfortunately, late Tuesday night, Salim would experience the opposite. Whatever it was, it had come out of nowhere. Salim hadn't even been given the chance to take a proper look at it. And then.. ..and then he was back in his hotel room. For a good amount of time, he didn't move. He wondered if he was dreaming. If at any moment, he would wake back up at the camp, filthy and starving. After about an hour, he finally budged. He took a very confused, very long shower, turning the events over in his head. None of this made any sense. It never did, granted. But this... This was something Salim couldn't just shake off as 'odd' and casually go about his business. So he'd send Jinn a text. Thus far, Salim had managed to make a number of friends. But out of all of them, Salim trusted Jinn the most. He propped open the door to his room, sending Jinn a rather vague: If you are not busy, can you come to my room please? It is not urgent. Even though it was kind of urgent. But Salim hated the idea of making a mountain out of a molehill. Whenever Jinn got around to popping by, he'd find Salim in front of the long, narrow mirror attached to the closet door, shirt off and curiously inspecting his reflection. |
