Jinn groaned at the pun. It had crossed his mind, too, but there was enough irony to go around, between the insects and the location in which they had cornered him. With flames leaking out of him, however, this didn't seem like the time for jokes.
"I am not surprised the hotel has leveled the playing field. It seems to enjoy spectacle." Jinn propped a hand against the ball rack behind him and grimaced as he pushed himself halfway to standing. "I won't be of much use until I heal." Which would happen, but far too slowly to keep the praying mantises from separating Gabriel from his halo. "And I cannot ask you to fight them alone. We don't have that kind of relationship."
In other words, yes, it was his decision what kind of chance he wished to take. But his decision might well put Gabriel in danger. That didn't sit right with Jinn. "Can you lead them away and pull your disappearing act again?"
