Daphne was having a nightmare, right? Vampires she could deal with. Even werewolves were cool, not really, but she could handle it. Bugs? Bugs were not okay. Bugs were gross and they were huge, which meant she could see all their moving parts in detail and it was not something she wanted. This had never been an aspiration of hers, to learn about bugs.
The first time she saw a house, she did a once around before breaking in through the basement. There wasn't a lot there, but there was enough. Flashlight in the kitchen drawer along with some matches, a knife or two, enough things to build a first aid kit in the bathroom, a bat she shoved into a backpack she'd found upstairs, and an axe in the garage. She'd used it to chop up some broom handles and also shoved them in the backpack for right now.
There were also a few cans of food she'd scavenged along with some lighter dry foods, but she wasn't particularly strong. She just didn't want to show up anywhere empty handed. And if worse came to worst, she could just eat it herself. She was not about the bug protein life.
It wasn't hard to spot the man in a ridiculous amount of shiny armor approaching her. Even though he knew her name, she did not hesitate to raise her axe. "Who the hell are you?" She was thankful she'd decided to wear combat boots that day, but her clothes were still on the light side, a thin sweater layered over a tank and some leggings. Daphne wasn't exactly an intimidating figure, topping out at 5'4", but she was scrappy and wanted to make it very clear that she wasn't afraid to defend herself if need be.
