The wheels in Eddie's mind turned. He'd heard the myths and stories of course but assumed, once he'd met Jinn, that most were just that, stories. But now he made the connection that maybe some of the lore was true and Jinn wasn't granted real free will in the world he came from. The thought made his chest ache; no one deserved that.
He set down the mug again and reached out, gesturing toward one of Jinn's hands, while he pulled a short tape measure from his coat pocket. "Can I?" He asked, deciding he should maybe actually do what he'd come to do.
"I'm glad he's not here. And if he was, I'd do more than wish him gone." It would be foolish, and reckless, but Eddie could be those things sometimes.
