So he’d had it since a child. Ben nodded, eyes falling to the cards briefly as Richie set them aside. The other man’s exact ability he didn’t know the name of but the dreams and visions, well that sounded familiar, didn’t it? It was arrogant to think that the Force could only be tapped in a certain bloodline and truthfully, Ben had always been curious to find others who were Force-sensitive. To find others who he could relate with. Befriend, even. And the Force could be different in anyone. Though what he felt with Richie was different, it was similar enough. Same garden. Different tree.
“That must have been difficult. It can be frustrating to experience something that is ...thrust upon you like that. Especially as a child.” Ben leaned forward on the desk, his hands resting on top of each other. It sounded as though Richie was downplaying it a little but Ben knew better than to press for more details. He was insanely curious and he was brimming with questions already about exactly when his abilities had started and what he had seen. But they had only just met. Richie was friendly now but he could quickly clam up.
Patience, Padawan.
But he could ask a few questions, couldn’t he? He had the advantage of Richie not knowing who he was, what he’d done so maybe he could push just a little.
“I always have trouble sleeping. If I could get away with not doing it, I would. Meditation helps, sort of.” Ben chewed on his lips, wondering how much about himself he could reveal. “Luke Skywalker. You’ve spoken with him before. Did he tell you what the Force was? It’s not the same as what you have, I think but it’s similar. Have you tried to see if your abilities can do anything else?”
