Not too long ago, Din had been on Moff Gideon's ship, saying goodbye to Grogu and sending him off with Luke to be trained. Something that Din had been horribly torn over. Because on one hand, deep down, he knew the kid had to be trained. He didn't even really need Ahsoka to tell him that. Din had seen what Grogu could do. There was a lot of power in that tiny little body and it had to go somewhere.
At the same time, Din hadn't been ready to part ways with Grogu. As a Mandalorian, he knew it would be irresponsible to ever have children. Or a significant other, for that matter. It wasn't something he had prepared himself for.
Yet here he was with both of those things, all well as an opportunity to train the kid without having to fully part ways with him. Any previous reservations or opinions Din held of Luke were set aside. Because things were different here. And Luke wasn't a stranger who was taking his son away.
"Luke," he greeted with a nod, coming up beside him. The kid was tucked away in Din's arms, those big eyes blinking up at the Jedi. Grogu recognized him from the ship and instantly understood what was going on, giving Luke a little hello via the Force.
"This is Grogu," Din began, totally unaware that the child had already mentally reached out to Luke just now. "We encountered another Jedi during our journey. She refused to train him, so I'm glad you're willing to try. I have to say, I don't really understand any of it. But I'll help any way I can, if you need me to?"
