He was there now. It might have still been too little too late, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to try to do something about it. Even if the only thing he needed to do was be present and listen, then he could do that. He thought he could, anyway. There was still a huge part of him that was afraid he would fuck it all up. But knowing those last few pieces of what had happened bridged a huge gulf in his mind. He could work with this. The one thing that he'd been afraid of... well, it would have come out by now, if that had been something. Worst option now was he'd just been absent in the past and neglected his duties as a father because of that fear. But it was alright, they'd be alright.
Han pushed up off the bar and walked around the side, coming right up next to Ben. He reached out and took his son's face in both of his hands for a moment. He just wanted to hold him there, to look at him, for a second. Then he let go and wrapped his arms around Ben in a tight hug. No, Han wasn't really the most affectionate person. He had never learned how to do that, at least not from anyone except Dewlanna. But he did remember something that she'd told him once and he thought that it might be helpful.
"I am here," he started, "And no matter what you're feeling, I'm going to be here. And I want you to feel like you can talk to me, if you want to. I don't care if you're angry or sad or just want to talk." It sounded a little forced when he said it, and also when he was translating it out of Shyriiwook. But he meant every word of it.
He let go of Ben, hands still on his arms for a moment, then slipped up into a chair next to him. "There's a lot of stuff I can tell you too," he shrugged, "when you're ready. Context, I suppose. Why all of that didn't come easy to me. It might help... both of us." Han pulled his glass across the bar, back to him, and turned to lean over the napkin drawings. "Droids aren't really my specialty, that's more Luke's area, but I think we could put our brains together and figure it out. Never drew plans out myself, just sort of went in head-first and starting putting shit together. But also," he tipped his gaze back towards Ben, "nothing will ever be the Falcon. She's special."
